UML Chair Oli moves SC demanding revocation of CPN (US)’s party registration process

KATHMANDU: CPN-UML Chairman KP Sharma Oli has moved the Supreme Court demanding that the registration process of CPN (Unified Socialist) be revoked at the earliest.

Sumitra Pandey on behalf of Chairman Oli on Wednesday filed a writ petition at the apex court demanding that the registration of CPN (Unified Socialist) which was formed with the support of 14 lawmakers, who had already been expelled from the UML, and nine central members be scrapped.

The party has demanded that the apex court remove 14 leaders from the post of lawmakers. The Election Commission has been made defendant in the writ.

The writ also demanded that the Supreme Court issue an interim order to bar the CPN (Unified Socialist) party from carrying out any activities.

Similarly, the party has accused the Election Commission of accepting an application for registering a separate party at a time when the application to remove 14 leaders from the party and from the post of lawmakers has been pending at the Parliament Secretariat.
