Government to send NAC’s aircraft to quake-hit Myanmar with relief and medical supplies

KATHMANDU: The Nepal Government is to send relief and medical supplies to quake-affected Myanmar.

A Cabinet meeting held on Monday night had decided to send the relief and medical supplies to Myanmar through Nepal Airlines Corporation.

The magnitude 7.7 quake that struck central Myanmar on March 28 had killed over 1, 700 people and destroyed properties worth millions.

According to government spokesperson and Minister for Communications and Information Technology Prithvi Subba Gurung, the meeting has decided to release the expenses of air fare from the Finance Ministry to the name of the Nepal Airlines Corporation.

The government has also decided to send a team of doctors of the Nepal Army to Myanmar.

Gurung said that a team of Nepal Army will leave for Myanmar with essential medical supplies in their own aircraft.
