Embassy of Pakistan observed National Day

KATHMANDU: The 85th National Day of Pakistan was observed in Kathmandu on Sunday.

A flag hoisting ceremony was held at the Embassy of Pakistan in Kathmandu to mark the day. Ambassador Abrar H Hashmi hoisted Pakistan’s Flag.

On the occasion, messages from the President, Prime Minister and Foreign Minister were read out.

In his message, Asif Ali Zardari, President of Pakistan while congratulating the nation said, “We honor the sacrifices of our founding fathers and the workers of the Pakistan movement. By embracing the principles of unity, faith, and discipline, we can strengthen national security, boost the economy, advance agriculture, ensure energy security, and create opportunities for youth,” read a statement issued by the Embassy of Pakistan in Kathmandu.

“Pakistan seeks peaceful coexistence, regional stability, and strong global relationships, while defending its sovereignty. We stand with the people of Jammu and Kashmir and Palestine in their fight for self-determination. Let us honor the sacrifices of our heroes and work together for a brighter future,” he added.

Prime Minister of Pakistan Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif, in his message, expressed March 23rd marks a defining moment in South Asia’s history, when, 85 years ago, the visionary leadership of Muslims in the subcontinent, under Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah, united to create an independent homeland where Muslims could live with dignity and freedom. This vision was realized in the Lahore Resolution of 1940, leading to the creation of Pakistan in 1947, built on the perseverance and sacrifices of our forefathers. Our armed forces and security personnel continue to safeguard the nation’s sovereignty with great valor, and we honor the sacrifices of our martyrs, according to the statement.

Foreign Minister Mohammad Ishaq Dar in his message extended warm greetings to fellow Pakistanis living abroad and commend their patriotism, dedication, and hard work.

“Each day, they proudly represent Pakistan internationally and play a vital role in shaping the country’s future success. On this day, let us also honor the struggle and exceptional sacrifices of our Kashmiri brothers and sisters in their quest for the inalienable right to self-determination,” he said. Pakistan remains steadfast in its commitment to providing political, moral and diplomatic support until the oppressed people of IIoJK attain their right to self-determination.

Ambassador Abrar H Hashmi in his remarks, congratulated the community and staff.

On the occasion he said, “we salute our forefathers for their vision and heroic and peaceful struggle to achieve independence.  The key to Pakistan’s progress and prosperity lies in our unity, hard work, and determination,” adding, “He also invited the community to stay engaged locally and contribute in whatever way to make Pakistan-Nepal friendship aloft.”
