Three killed in Okhaldhunga Tata Sumo accident

KATHMANDU: Three persons died when a Tata Sumo heading towards Kathmandu from Khotang met with an accident at Okhaldhunga on Thursday.

The incident occurred at Bhandare Khola, border of Bhangyang Rural Municipality 6 and 7, police said.

Rural Municipality Vice-Chairperson Archan Rai told Nepal Press over phone that three persons of a family died in the accident.

The deceased have been identified as Maya Devi Gurung (56) and his son Pujan Gurung (28) of Kepilagadhi Rural Municipality-3 and his sister Tara Gurung (45) of Rupakot Majhuwagadhi Rural Municipality-12, Diktel, according to him.

“The Sumo (Na 1 Ja 6421) heading towards Kathmandu from Khotang carrying a patient met with an accident at 12: 30 pm. We knew about the incident only this morning. But all of them had already died on the spot,” he said.

Pujan and Tara were taking Maya to Kathmandu for the treatment.

Maya had sustained serious burn injuries.

Driver Anil Pandit (22) fled the scene after the incident.
