Megh Raj Pokharel elected as SC Bar Association chairman
KATHMANDU: Senior advocate Megh Raj Pokharel has been appointed as the chairman of Supreme Court Bar Association. He received 368 votes.
His closest contender senior advocate Mahesh Kumar Thapa garnered 181 votes while advocate Prem Singh Dhami secured 15 votes.
Elected Pokharel is the candidate of DLA close to Nepali Congress.
Legal practitioners close to CPN (US) had one panel while CPN-UML and CPN (Maoist Centre) had another panel in the election held on Saturday.
Similarly, advocate Ambar Bahadur Raut has been elected as the vice-chairman. He got 346 votes while advocate Bhismaraj Kadariya obtained 103 votes and senior advocate Uttam Bahadur Shrestha received 35 votes.
Likewise, Raman Kumar Karna has been elected as the secretary. He got 339 votes. Prabhakar Shrestha received 205 votes.
