2nd Chandbagh Model United Nations conference commences

KATHMANDU: The 2nd Chandbagh Model United Nations (MUN) conference commenced this morning with great enthusiasm.

The event, organised by MUN team of The Chandbagh  School, is hosting over 200 plus students from 20 prestigious schools in the Kathmandu Valley.

With a diverse range of participants, the conference promises to be a platform for intellectual discourse and diplomatic engagement.

Under the guidance of eight experienced chairs, eight vice chairs , and two moderators, the conference will be divided into eight committees, each focusing on different global issues. The following committees will be leading the discussions:

1. UNHRC – United Nations Human Rights Council Committee

2. SOCHUM – Social, Cultural, and Humanitarian Committee

3. UNODC – United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime

4. HUNSC – Historic United Nations Security Council

5. IP – International Press

6. FC – Fictional Committee

7. UNW – UN Women

8. FPN – Federal Parliament of Nepal

The Chandbagh MUN aims to provide a platform for students to enhance their understanding of global issues, develop critical thinking skills, and foster diplomatic negotiations.

Through engaging simulations of United Nations committees, participants will have the opportunity to delve into complex global challenges and propose innovative solutions.

The conference will feature a series of committee sessions, where students will engage in lively debates, draft resolutions, and work towards consensus.

Additionally, there will be special events such as guest speaker sessions, musical performances and cultural dance, providing participants with a holistic learning experience. We are thrilled to witness the enthusiasm and dedication of the participating students.

The Conference is set for three days from the 6th – 8th Sept 2024 and the closing ceremony will take place on Sunday, 8th September 2024 at 3:00 pm at the school premises.

The 2nd Chandbagh MUN aims to empower young minds, cultivate leadership qualities, and inspire them to become global citizens. We are confident that this conference will serve as a stepping stone for their future endeavors in diplomacy and international relations.
