Government renews Ncell’s license

KATHMANDU: Ncell, the private sector telecom giant, renewed its license for the next five years on Monday.

Nepal Telecommunication Authority renewed the license by providing the installment facility.

The regulatory body said that the license was renewed with the condition to pay the renewal fee in four installments.

The installments with interest should be paid within 2027.

The payment has to be made in four installments at the rate of Rs 5 billion a year.

Ncell has already paid the first installment of Rs 5 billion.

The remaining installments with interest should be paid within 2027.

Santosh Paudel, spokesperson at the Authority, said that the license was renewed with the condition to pay the money in four installments.

“Ncell had paid Rs 4 billion on May 27. The license was renewed by paying Rs 1 billion on Sunday. Out of four installments, Ncell has paid the first installment of Rs 5 billion.  Now, it has to pay the remaining three installments with interest,” he said.

A Cabinet meeting held on Thursday had decided to allow Ncell to pay renewal fee in four installments.
