Nepali student found shot dead in US
KATHMANDU: A Nepali student was found shot dead in Houston in the United States on Monday.
Muna Pandey, a student of Houston Community College, was found dead in her apartment.
Police are investigating the incident.
Pandey had been in the United States since 2021 on a student visa.
Police have handed over the body to the hospital for postmortem after carrying out preliminary investigation.
An employee of the apartment informed police that he got a call from the apartment and said that there was a body in the room.
Later, police searched the apartment and found Pandey dead.
Dron Gautam, First Vice Chairman of the Nepali Association of Houston, informed the Pandey’s family in Nepal about the incident on behalf of the local Nepali community.
The deceased’s mother Anita Pandey said that she had a conversation with her daughter four days ago.
She said that Muna is her only child.
Preliminary investigation revealed that the killer entered Pandey’s room and shot her.
Muna was reportedly in a relationship with an American man.
According to the information provided by the owner of the mobile phone store where Pandey works, the incident might have occurred on Saturday.
It can be easily assumed from the video clip provided by the operator that the killer shot her in the bed.
Pandey (21) was shot three times. She has only her mother in Nepal.
