Torrential rainfall inundates over 500 houses in Kailali
KAILALI: Normal life in Kailali has been affected due to torrential rainfall.
Almost all the areas of Bhajani, Joshipur, Janaki, Ghodaghodi Kailari and Gaurigangama have been submerged.
According to Shivaraj Joshi, Information Officer at the District Administration Office, more than 500 houses have been inundated in Kailali so far and more than 1, 700 people have been affected.
He informed that more than 400 houses have been submerged in Bhajani. Hasuliya Gauriganga Sukhad has been inundated.
Some families of Kailari have been taking shelter at the ward office.
Lokmaya Chaudhary (42) was swept away when she tried to flee after the water gushed into her house at Bayanpur in Kailari-5.
After the rescue, she is receiving treatment at the Dhangadhi-based Nisarga Hospital.
The water level in the small rivers of Kailali has been increasing and it is raining continuously.
Saying that there is a high risk of floods, the District Administration Office has issued a notice urging the locals to go to safer places.
The rescue operations are underway with the help of locals and Nepal Police and Armed Police Force personnel.
