Mortal remains of Swedish national found on Mardi Himal Base Camp

POKHARA: Mortal remains of a person were found on the base camp of Mardi Himal.

According to Machhapuchhare Rural Municipality-9 Chairman Hari Bahadur Chhetri, local sheep farmer Govinda Gautam on Friday had found the mortal remains in the bamboo bush.

He informed that two human bones, a trouser and iPhone were found in the Lamdanda gorge in the Mardi Himal Base Camp at an altitude of 4, 500 meters.

The District Police Office, Kaski said that the mortal remains were of the Swedish citizen Michael Liu Blomberg who went missing seven months ago.

Blomberg had gone missing from the base camp on December 30.

SP Mohan Kumar Thapa of the District Police Office said that it was confirmed that he was a Swedish national on the basis of the trouser and iPhone.
