Man dies after being swept away by Balkhu river
KATHMANDU: A person died after being swept away by the flooded Balkhu river on Wednesday.
The body of Ram Sworup Mahato (45) was found stuck under the bridge of Balkhu river this morning.
Kathmandu Valley Police Office spokesperson Dinesh Raj Mainali said that Mahato, who had been living in squatters settlement in Kathmandu, died after being washed by the flooded river.
Preparations are underway to handover the body to the family members, he said.
The water level in almost all the rivers of Kathmandu Valley like Bagmati, Hanumante, Manohara, Dhobikhola, Godawari, Nakhhu and Balkhu among others has crossed the danger mark following the incessant rainfall.
