3, 200 kg gold smuggled to Nepal by establishing bogus companies: CIB

KATHMANDU: The Central Investigation Bureau (CIB) of Nepal Police has claimed that around 3, 200 kg of gold was smuggled to Nepal through five dummy companies.

According to CIB, 1303.965 kg of gold was smuggled through Bhujel Electric Suppliers Pvt Ltd, 632.715 kg through Hwada Electric Suppliers Pvt Ltd and 716.83 kg through Chhungak Electric Suppliers Pvt Ltd.

Similarly, it has been found that 172.8 kg gold was smuggled through Dolakha Electric Suppliers Pvt Ltd and 7.5 kg gold through Ready Trade Pvt Ltd.

Earlier it was claimed that 362.778 kg of gold was smuggled through brake shoes.

The CIB claimed that the companies were established just to smuggle the gold.

The CIB said that the gang has smuggled the gold worth around Rs 31 billion.

The CIB informed that 20 people have been arrested so far and 25 are on the run.
