Medical Education Commission decides to give affiliation of medical college to Durga Prasain’s hospital

KATHMANDU: The Medical Education Commission has decided to give affiliation of medical college to the Jhapa-based B & C Hospital.

A 14th meeting of the Commission held in Baluwatar under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal has decided to give affiliation to the B & C Hospital as per the order of the Supreme Court, Krishna Prasad Kaprile, joint secretary and a member of the Commission, told Nepal Press.

A division bench of Justices Kumar Chudal and Saranga Subedi on March 25, 2024 had ordered the Kathmandu University and Medical Education Commission to give affiliation of the medical college to B & C Hospital owned by Durga Prasain within 15 days.

Following the order, a meeting of the Executive Committee of the Kathmandu University held on June 9, 2024 had sent a letter with recommendation to the Nepal Medical Commission to give affiliation to B & C Hospital.

Meanwhile, Dr Govinda KC had warned that he would stage a hunger strike if the decision to give affiliation to the B & C Hospital is not revised.
