Russia ready to cancel contract of Nepalis serving in Russian army: Foreign Minister
KATHMANDU: Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Foreign Affairs Narayan Kaji Shrestha said that a process has already been started to provide compensation and insurance amount to the families of Nepalis who died serving in the Russian army.
Answering to the questions raised in the House of Representatives on Monday, he said that the government has been making efforts to bring the Nepalis back home.
“The Russian Foreign Ministry has agreed in principle to cancel the contract of the Nepalis, serving in the Russian army, wanting to return home. However, its modality is yet to be decided. The Moscow-based Nepali Embassy has been constantly following up on this. A photo of those held captive in Ukraine has been made public. Efforts are being made to bring them back to Nepal,” he said.
