Newly appointed ministers sworn in

KATHMANDU: Newly appointed ministers took the oath of office and secrecy on Wednesday.

President Ram Chandra Paudel administered the oath to the newly appointed ministers amidst a function at Sheetal Niwas.

Raghubir Mahaseth was sworn in as Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Physical Infrastructure and Transport, Padam Giri as Minister for Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs, Hari Uprety as Minister for Defence, Bhagwati Chaudhary as Minister for Women, Children and Senior Citizens, Rajendra Rai as Minister for Drinking Water, Damodar Bhandari as Minister for Industry, Jwala Kumari Sah as Minister for Agriculture and Balram Adhikari as Minister for Land Management and Cooperatives from the CPN-UML.

Likewise, Narayan Kaji Shrestha was sworn in as Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Foreign Affairs, Barshaman Pun as Minister for Finance, Shakti Bahadur Basnet as Minister for Energy and Rekha Sharma as Minister for Communications and Information Technology from the CPN (Maoist Centre).

Similarly, Bhanubhakta Joshi took the oath of office and secrecy as Minister for Federal Affairs and Dhan Bahadur Buda as Minister for Urban Development from the CPN (Unified Socialist).

Rabi Lamichhane was sworn in as Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Home, Sumana Shrestha as Minister for Education from Biraj Bhakta Shrestha as Minister for Sports from the Rastriya Swatantra Party.

They will assume the office today itself.
