Death toll in Belbari road accident reaches three

BIRATNAGAR: The death toll in a tipper-Bolero jeep collision that occurred at Belbari in Morang along the East-West Highway has reached three.

The tipper (Pradesh 1-02-001 Kha 9676) en route to east from west collided head-on with the jeep (Me 1 Jha 2856) this morning, the District Police Office, Morang said.

According to DSP Ranjan Kumar Dahal of the District Police Office, Morang, the jeep also hit a bus (Bagmati Pradesh -03-001 Kha 2718).

The deceased have been identified as Yadukanta Bhattarai (52) and Deepa Khanal (44) of Kamal Rural Municipality-2 Jhapa.

They both died on the spot while jeep driver Krishna Gajurel (36) of Birtamod-2, Jhapa breathed his last during the course of treatment at the Biratnagar-based Neuro Hospital.

Two others, who were injured in the incident, are undergoing treatment at the Neuro Hospital.

Police said a person is said to be in critical condition.
