NTA Chairman Khanal resigns

KATHMANDU: Nepal Telecommunication Authority Chairman Purushottam Khanal has resigned from his post on Tuesday.

His resignation comes at a time when the ministry, the Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) and the parliamentary committee has been carrying out an investigation against his alleged involvement in the financial irregularity while purchasing and installing equipment.

Khanal tendered his resignation while investigation is being conducted against him for corruption in multi-billion projects like MDMX and Teramax.

According to a source, he this morning submitted his resignation to Minister for Communications and Information Technology Rekha Sharma with effect from Wednesday.

Though Khanal’s tenure was until mid-July, he left the office from today itself.
