One held for forcing girls into prostitution

KATHMANDU: A person has been arrested for allegedly providing girls as per customers’ choices.

The suspect has been identified as Suman Tamang (24) of Tadi Rural Municipality-6, Nuwakot and currently residing at New Buspark, Tokha Municipality-9.

Police said that he used to lure the girls and forced them into prostitution and sexual activities in various hotels and guest houses in the New Buspark area.

Acting on a tip-off, a team deployed from the Human Trafficking Investigation Bureau, Babarmahal rescued four girls and apprehended Tamang.

According to a preliminary investigation, he used to lure the girls, who are financially weak, assuring them of providing jobs of waiters and cleaners in different hotels and guest houses. Later, he forced them into prostitution and sexual activities.

Further investigation into the case is underway, police said.
