Bhattarai ready to cooperate with Dahal again, to name party as CPN (Samajbadi)

KATHMANDU: Nepal Samajbadi Party Chairman Baburam Bhattarai has agreed to unify the party with the CPN (Maoist Centre).

During a meeting of the four senior leaders held at the Bhattarai’s residence in Tokha on Monday, he expressed his readiness to form a Unification Coordination Committee under his leadership.

Along with Bhattarai, another Chairman Mahendra Raya Yadav, senior leader Ganga Narayan Shrestha and General Secretary Ramesh Yadav were present in the meeting.

A meeting of the party senior leaders held in Tokha has forged a consensus to unify the party with the Maoist Centre, General Secretary Yadav said.

“We have reached an agreement to unify the party with the Maoist Centre. Now, we will form a Coordination Committee under the headship of the party chairman. We have also told the leaders of the Maoist Centre that they should also form a committee under the leadership of the party chairman. They are also ready,” he said.

He said that Yadav will also be another chairman of the committee.

“We will hold office bearers meeting today to implement the decision made on Monday. A meeting of the Central Committee to be held on Tuesday will make further decisions,” the General Secretary said.

He claimed that almost both parties have agreed to name the party as CPN (Samajbadi).

Bhattarai, who had left the Maoist in 2015, agreed to cooperate with Maoist Centre Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal again after eight years.
