37 killed, hundreds injured in earthquake in Jajarkot
JAJARKOT: At least 37 persons have died and hundreds were injured when an earthquake measuring 6.4 on the Richter scale jolted Jajarkot district on Friday night.
Chief District Officer Suresh Sunar said that the deceased include 27 women and 10 men.
The earthquake has severely hit Bheri, Nalgad, Kushe, Barekot and Chedagad in the district.
All the security forces in the district have been mobilized in the search and rescue work, said CDO Sunar.
Among the dead also includes Deputy Mayor of Nalgad Municipality Sarita Singh, according to Deputy Superintendent of Police of Jajarkot Santosh Rokka.
An earthquake measuring 6.4 in the Richter scale occurred at 11:47 pm on Friday, with Ramidanda of Jajarkot as the epicenter.
