KATHMANDU: The Supreme Court has issued some orders with conditions raising questions over the recommendation of the government and the decision of the President to grant amnesty to gangster Yograj Dhakal alias Rigal, the murderer of Chetan Manandhar.
Hearing a writ petition filed by Chetan’s wife Bharati Sherpa Manandhar, a single bench of Justice Dr Manoj Kumar Sharma asked the defendants to furnish written clarification for releasing Rigal within seven days.
The court has also issued an order to send a letter to the Home Ministry to arrange the security for Bharati and her family members until the writ is finalised.
