Local administration clamps curfew in Nepalgunj

RUPANDEHI: The local administration has clamped a curfew in Nepalgunj of Banke.

The curfew order was issued in the Nepalgunj Sub-Metropolitan City area to take the clash that could arise between the Hindus and Muslims under control.

Earlier on Monday, the District Administration Office had issued an urgent notice urging people not to carry out activities that could harm religious harmony and spread religious hatred.

On Tuesday morning, various religious leaders, people’s representatives and civil society leaders had taken out a rally in Nepalgunj with an aim to promote social harmony.

The rally that started from BP Chowk of Nepalgunj converged into a corner assembly Dambojhi Chowk.

Religious leaders, politicians and civil society took part in the rally, Chief District Officer Bipin Acharya said.

Addressing the corner assembly, Mayor Prashant Bista, Hindu religious leaders and Muslim religious leaders among others urged the people to treat each other as brothers in the society.
