Agitating teachers withdraw protest after seven-point agreement with government
KATHMANDU: Agitating teachers and the government signed an agreement on Friday.
The agitating teachers and the Education Ministry signed the agreement during a meeting held at the ministry this morning.
Education Minister Ashok Rai, Education State Minister Pramila Kumari and Suresh Adhikari were present in the meeting.
Following the agreement with the government, the teachers withdrew their protest programmes.
The teachers of community schools from across the country have been staging protests in Kathmandu since Wednesday against the School Education Bill tabled in the Parliament.
The teachers have stopped the programmes of protest after the the Nepal Teachers’ Federation signed a seven -point agreement with the government.
Expressing dissatisfaction over the agreement signed between the government and the Nepal Teachers’ Federation, the teachers had announced to continue the protest.
The agreement was signed a week after the teachers started the protest.
