Kalimati Fruits and Vegetables Market fixes price of onion after two days

KATHMANDU: The Kalimati Fruits and Vegetables Market Development Board fixed the price of onion after two days.

The price of onion had increased on Monday. But the Board wiped onion off its price list which was made public every day from Tuesday.

The price of onion, which was 61 kg till Sunday, was increased on Monday to a minimum of Rs 75 per kg and maximum of Rs 80 per kg.

The Board, which had removed onion from the price list after it disappeared from the market, has fixed the price of staple vegetable in the daily price list after two days.

According to the price list, the minimum price of Indian onion has been fixed at Rs 75 per kg and maximum at Rs 80 per kg.

The Nepali traders had stopped importing onions after India imposed a 40 percent export duty.

Board’s Executive Director Dal Prasad Pudasaini said that the import of onions has started in the Kalimati Fruits and Vegetables Market from today.

Earlier, Nepal had also increased customs duty on the import of onions.
