Government decides to confer ‘Gana Gayak’ title on JB Tuhure
KATHMANDU: The government has decided to confer the title of ‘Jana Gayak’ on progressive singer late JB Tuhure.
A Cabinet meeting held on Wednesday morning made the decision to this effect.
The government has decided to confer the title two years after his death.
Tuhure breathed his last while receiving treatment at the Balkhu-based Vayodha Hospital on August 26, 2021.
His real name is Juth Bahadur Khadgi.
Tuhure sang more than hundreds of popular revolutionary songs in 20 years of his career.
‘Ama Didi Bahini’, ‘Chauri Charne Thama’ and ‘Aandhi Kholaile’, are some of his popular songs.
Tuhure has recorded more than 150 revolutionary songs.
Born in Dharan of Sunsari, he also served as a member of the second Constituent Assembly from the CPN (Maoist Centre).
