I am not trying to show activism: President Paudel
KATHMANDU: President Ram Chandra Paudel said that he is not trying to show activism as said by the main opposition CPN-UML.
He said so while addressing the all-party meeting called by him in Sheetal Niwas.
“I am not trying to show activism. I am also a cadre who suffered a lot for democracy. That is why, this is my concern for the country. I have not been able to meet you all due to various reasons,” he said.
During the meeting, Paudel recalled that the Constitution of Nepal has given the responsibility to the President to follow and protect the Constitution and promote national unity.
The President said that he was always thinking about how to fulfill the responsibility given by the Constitution.
“I have a feeling that our Constitution and system are being breached. I think the time has come to think about whether we have been adhering to the Constitution,” he said.
President Paudel further said that people from all quarters of life have been raising questions that the necessary and important laws have not been formulated for the implementation of the federal democratic republic.
“The legal issues related to the Truth and Reconciliation Commission and the Commission of Investigation on Enforced Disappeared Persons have not been resolved yet. People’s wish for peace will not be fulfilled if the issues are not resolved at the earliest,” President Paudel said.
