Speaker-whips meeting ends inconclusively
KATHMANDU: The meeting of Speaker Devraj Ghimire with the chief whips and whip of political parties held to seek ways to end the House obstruction ended without making a concrete decision.
Rastriya Swatantra Party Chief Whip Sanosh Pariyar said that the meeting ended inconclusively after the ruling and opposition parties refused to budge from their stances.
“The ruling and opposition parties have refused to budge from their stances. Even the opposition parties have said that they will raise the voice more strongly. Now, it is expected that the issue will be resolved in the meeting called by the Prime Minister,” he said.
Chief whips and whips of Nepali Congress and CPN (Maoist Centre) from the ruling parties and CPN-UML, Rastriya Swatantra Party and Rastriya Prajatantra Party were present in the meeting.
The meeting of the House of Representatives has been called for 1 pm today.
The main opposition CPN-UML has been obstructing the Parliament proceedings demanding formation of a high-level probe to investigate the gold smuggling case.
