Koshi Province Chief Khapung calls on parties to form new govt

BIRATNAGAR: Koshi Province Chief Parshuram Khapung on Friday called on the political parties to stake their claim for the post of Chief Minister and form a government in the province.

Issuing a notice on Friday, Province Chief Khapung urged the parties to form a majority government by 5 PM on August 1, in accordance with clause (2) of Article 168 of the Constitution of Nepal.

The Supreme Court (SC) on Thursday invalidated the appointment of Udhhav Thapa of the Nepali Congress (NC) as the Chief Minister of the Koshi Province.

The apex court had also issued an order to form a new government in the province within seven days.
