UML obstructs HoR meeting, demands formation of high-level committee on gold smuggling case

KATHMANDU: The main opposition party, CPN-UML, obstructed today’s house meeting, demanding the formation of a high-level investigation committee to look into the recent 100-kg gold smuggling case.

UML parliamentarians stated that they would not allow the House meeting to proceed until their demands were met.

Addressing the House, Chief Whip of the UML, Padam Giri, demanded a ruling from the Speaker to form the committee.

Shortly after Giri’s address, the UML lawmakers started protesting in the House.
