High Court directs KMC not to implement its decision to ban the screening of Indian films
KATHMANDU: The Patan High Court issued a short-term interim order on Thursday directing the Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) not to immediately implement its decision to ban the screening of Hindi films in Kathmandu.
A single bench of Patan High Court Judge Dhir Bahadur Chand today issued the interim order in the writ petition filed by the Nepal Motion Picture Association.
The high court has summoned both sides for discussion on June 27.
KMC Mayor Balen Shah banned the screening of Indian movies from Monday. The decision came after his request to remove a specific segment from the movie ‘Adipurush,’ which portrays Janaki as the Indian daughter, was disregarded.
