Garbage collection in Singha Durbar resumes following SC’s order (photos)
KATHMANDU: Garbage collection has resumed in Singha Durbar after a halt of more than two weeks.
Following an interim order from the Supreme Court on Friday, the Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) started collecting waste from the premises on Monday.
Pariwartan Sewa Pvt Ltd, a private firm that has been managing Singha Durbar’s waste for the past 14 years, picked up the garbage this afternoon.
Earlier on Friday, the Supreme Court (SC) issued an interim order directing the Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) to collect the garbage from Singha Durbar within three days.
On April 9, the Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) mayor Balen Shah announced a halt in garbage collection from the country’s administrative hub, Singha Durbar, and other VIP areas.
