Shah defends move to stop collecting waste from Singha Durbar
KATHMANDU: Kathmandu Metropolitan City Mayor Balen Shah has defended his move to stop collecting waste from the premises of Singha Durbar.
Mayor Shah said that he decided to stop collecting garbage from Singha Durbar after the central government turned a blind eye to the KMC’s repeated efforts for cooperation.
“The decision was the outcome of the central government’s negligence, irresponsibility and carelessness,” he said.
He said that he had never felt that the central government wanted to cooperate with the local governments on the matters of the general public’s livelihood.
Mayor Shah said that he reached the stage of making this bold decision after he could not implement the agreements signed between the KMC and ministers reached at different time.
