RSP President Lamichhane files nomination in Chitwan-2

KATHMANDU: Rastriya Swatantra Party President Rabi Lamichhane filed his nomination for the by-election in Chitwan-2 on Monday.

He filed his nomination by reaching the election officer’s office this morning.

Lamichhane had won the Parliamentary election from this constituency by a huge margin on November 20.

The Election Commission is holding the by-election on April 23 after the post remained vacant following the decision of the Supreme Court.

He had defeated Nepali Congress candidate Umesh Shrestha by a margin of 34, 162 votes.

Lamichhane had secured 41, 261 votes while his closest contender Shrestha garnered 15, 099 votes.

Krishna Bhakta Shrestha of the CPN-UML had received 14, 649 votes.
