Nepal thrash PNG by 9 wickets

KATHMANDU: Nepal registered a thrilling nine-wicket win over Papua New Guinea in a match played under the ongoing tri-series of the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup League-2 on Monday.

The match was held at TU Cricket ground in Kirtipur today.

With an excellent bowling performance, Nepal restricted PNG to 95 runs taking all ten wickets.

Nepal successfully chased the target of 96 runs set by PNG. They achieved the target in just 7.4 overs while losing only one wicket.

For Nepal, Aasif Sheikh scored the highest 53 runs off 21 balls hitting three sixes and eight boundaries.
Kushal Bhurtel made 33 runs off 14 balls with two sixes and four fours.

Similarly, Kushal Malla remained unbeaten on 12 off 13 balls with one six and one four.

Likewise, spinner Sandeep Lamichhane shined in the bowling claiming five Papua New Guinea wickets single-handedly.

Lamichhane was declared the player of the match after the game.

Lalit Narayan Rajbamshi and Kushal Malla took two wickets each while Sompal Kami claimed one wicket.
Nepal is facing the United Arab Emirates on Thursday.
