SC allows Lamichhane to travel abroad
KATHMANDU: The Supreme Court (SC) on Monday allowed cricketer Sandeep Lamichhane to travel abroad for playing cricket.
Hearing a writ petition filed by Lamichhane, a joint bench of Justices Sapana Malla Pradhan and Kumar Chudal today issued an order allowing him to travel abroad to play the UAE series.
Lamichhane had filed a petition against Patan High Court demanding to lift the travel ban against him.
Earlier on January 12, the Patan High Court had ordered the release of Lamichhane on a bail amount of Rs 2 million. The court, however, prevented him from traveling abroad.
The apex court also upheld the Patan High Court’s decision to release Lamichhane on bail.
On January 31, the Attorney General’s Office moved Supreme Court against the Patan High Court’s decision to grant bail to Lamichhane.
