Nepal beat Namibia by two wickets in ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup League 2
KATHMANDU: Nepal defeated Namibia by two wickets in the first match of the triangular one-day series under the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup League 2 on Tuesday. The match was played at the TU Cricket Ground in Kirtipur.
Chasing Namibia’s target of 286 runs, Nepal reached the total in 46.4 overs with 8 wickets down.
Opener Kushal Bhurtel scored a century, securing 115 runs off 113 balls with four sixes and ten fours.
With this century, Bhurtel became the third Nepali cricketer to score a century in One Day International (ODI) and T-20 International.
Skipper Rohit Poudel also made a half-century, scoring 72 runs off 76 balls with three sixes and seven fours.
Sundeep Jora and Gyanendra Malla contributed 28 runs and 25 runs respectively, while Aasif Sheikh returned to the pavilion without scoring any runs.
On the bowling side, Karan KC took five wickets, while Sandeep Lamichhane took three wickets.
For Namibia, Michael van Lingen scored the highest with 133 runs off 137 balls, hitting five sixes and nine fours.
Trumpelmann and Jan Nicol Loftie-Eaton took three wickets each.
Nepal will play its next match against Scotland on Friday.
