Sudurpaschim CM Rawal fails to secure vote of confidence
KATHMANDU: Sudurpaschim Province Chief Minister Rajendra Singh Rawal failed to secure a vote of confidence on Thursday, resulting in the collapse of the provincial government within a month.
During a meeting of the Provincial Assembly held today, Rawal proposed a vote of confidence, but the proposal was rejected by a majority of members.
Rawal, who was appointed Chief Minister of the province on January 11 with the support of 29 lawmakers from CPN-UML, CPN (Maoist Centre), Nagarik Unmukti Party, and Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP), failed to secure a majority as one of the ruling coalition partners, the Nagarik Unmukti Party, declined to vote in his favor.
Meanwhile, Rawal of CPN-UML said that he will soon submit his resignation to the head of the Province.
