Nepal to send medical teams, emergency supplies to support Turkey quake victims
KATHMANDU: The government of Nepal has decided to send medical teams and emergency supplies to support quake victims in Turkey.
A 10th meeting of the National Council for Disaster Risk Reduction and Management held at the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers this afternoon made the decision to this effect.
During the meeting, Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal said that Turkey is a good friend of Nepal and stressed on the need to provide possible assistance from Nepal.
“The government of Turkey helped us when we were in trouble. We should support them when they are in need,” Dahal said, proposing the meeting to send relief materials as soon as possible.
Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Bishnu Paduel, Chief Secretary Shankar Das Bairagi, officers and members of the committee including the Chief of Army Staff of the Nepal Army were present at the meeting.
Around 10,000 people lost their lives when the country was shaken by the 7.8 magnitude tremor. The death toll is still on the rise.
