Issue of President will be discussed in the meeting of high-level political mechanism: PM Dahal

KATHMANDU: Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal and CPN-UML Chairman KP Sharma Oli held a meeting on Wednesday.

During the meeting held at Oli’s residence in Balkot, the two leaders agreed to hold a meeting of the high-level political mechanism.

After the meeting, Prime Minister Dahal said, “We will hold a meeting of the high-level political mechanism. We will discuss how to move ahead in an easy way. The issue of the President will be discussed tomorrow.”

As the tenure of President Bidya Devi Bhandari is expiring on March 12, election is being held to elect a new President.  The presidential election has been scheduled for March 9.

UML leaders have been saying that when CPN (Maoist Centre) Chairman Dahal was made the Prime Minister, the two parties had reached an agreement that the President will be made from the UML.

But, the UML has been harboring doubts that Dahal has agreed to make the President from the Nepali Congress.
