Chinese ambassador calls on Speaker Ghimire

KATHMANDU: Chinese Ambassador to Nepal Chen Song paid a courtesy call on Speaker Devraj Ghimire on Wednesday.

During the meeting held at the Speaker’s office in Singha Durbar, the two exchanged views on bilateral ties between Nepal and China.

On the occasion, the Speaker said, “Nepal is committed to the ‘One China’ policy,” acknowledging the Chinese’s medical assistance to Nepal during COVID-19 pandemic.  He also recalled the Chinese assistance to Nepal for post-quake reconstruction efforts, expressing his hope for the cooperation from the northern neighbour to re-open the closed trade transit along the Nepal-China border.

The ambassador extended best wishes to the Speaker for his successful term. He also handed the Speaker a message of best wishes sent by Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress, China, Li Zhanshu, to him.
