Nagarik Unmukti Party lawmaker Arun Kumar Chaudhary sent to jail
KATHMANDU: Nagarik Unmukti Party lawmaker Arun Kumar Chaudhary, who was arrested on Thursday, has been sent to jail on Friday.
The Kailali District Court on April 22, 2013 had sentenced Chaudhary along two others to six months in jail and a fine of Rs 818, 423 for setting a tractor (Lu 2 Ta 211) on fire on August 19, 2009.
Police said that they nabbed Chaudhary from Kohalpur of Banke to implement the verdict.
He was produced before the district court on Friday.
Chaudhary was elected as a member of the House of Representatives from Kailali-2.
Earlier on Thursday, the Nagarik Unmukti Party had served a 24-hour ultimatum to the government to release Chaudhary.
The party chairperson had warned that they would come up with stern protest programmes if he is not released within 24 hours.
