Samsung Company to start production in Nepal from March
KATHMANDU: Samsung Electronics, a South Korean company that is one of the world’s largest producers of electronic devices, is to start producing its products from Nepal.
The company is going to start its production from the factory established in Nepal from March.
Samsung Company Nepal office Managing Director Sung June Park paid a courtesy call on Foreign Minister Dr Bimala Rai Paudyal on Tuesday and informed that the Company is going to start producing its material in Nepal.
During the meeting held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, he said that the Company has established an ‘assembling factory’ in Bhairahawa and Samsung TV sets will be manufactured in the first phase from March.
Managing Director Park said that the Company will gradually review feasilbility of manufacturing other products like refrigerators, washing machines and smartphones in Nepal.
He informed that the skilled trainers of Korea and Vietnam are coming to Nepal to train the Nepali workers.
Samsung established this factory in partnership with the Golchha Company.
Park said that 50 people will get direct employment from Nepal in the first phase and the number of jobs will be increased gradually soon after the Company starts manufacturing other products.
On the occasion, Park said that the Samsung Company has been teaching more than 100 students in the Pulchowk Engineering College in cooperation with the Tribhuvan University and its name is called Samsung Innovative College.
Saying that Nepali people will get jobs once the Samsung Company starts manufacturing its products in Nepal, Minister Paudyal expressed her commitment to provide necessary support.
She further said that Nepal and Korea have good relations at the government and people’s level.
