Squatters stage demonstration in Capital demanding land ownership certificates (With photos)

KATHMANDU: Hundreds of squatters staged a demonstration in the Capital on Friday also demanding land ownership certificates.

Saying the Kathmandu Metropolitan City has been trying to forcefully evict them from their settlements, the squatters took out a rally from Maitighar to New Baneshwor this afternoon.

The protest was organised by Samyukta Rastriya Sukumbasi Morcha.

They had displayed banners and placards with slogans such as stop dozer terror and implement agreement of the KMC among others.

Earlier on Thursday, KMC Mayor Balen Shah and Home Minister Rabi Lamichhane had discussed the issue of managing the squatters’ settlement.
