NC draws attention of govt, EC to hold presidential election on time (With video)

KATHMANDU: The Nepali Congress has demanded that the presidential election be held on time.

A meeting of the office bearers and former office bearers held at party President Sher Bahadur Deuba’s residence in Dhumbarahi on Monday drew the attention of the government and the Election Commission to hold the election immediately by removing legal hurdles.

Party spokesperson Prakash Sharan Mahat said that the party has decided to move ahead by holding discussions with the parties in the Parliament for the election.

He said that the presidential election should be held by February 12.

“We have been hearing that the government is trying to delay the election. We will not accept it at any cost,” he said.

Leader Mahat said that the Nepali Congress will seek support from all the political parties in the Parliament for the election.

Leader Shashank Koirala also said that the Nepali Congress will file candidacy for the post of President.
