SC refuses to issue interim order in Rabi Lamichanne’s citizenship case

KATHMANDU: The Supreme Court (SC) on Friday refused to issue an interim order in the Deputy Prime Minister and Home Minister Rabi Lamichhane’s citizenship case.

A constitutional bench of justices Ishwar Prasad Khatiwada, Ananda Mohan Bhattarai, Anil Kumar Sinha and Prakash Man Singh Raut including Acting Chief Justice Hari Krishna Karki refused to issue the order while hearing the writ today.

A writ petition was filed at the apex court against Lamichhane demanding the cancellation of the parliamentarian post of Rabi Lamichhane. The writ was filed stating that Lamichannne did not renounce his Nepali citizenship after obtaining citizenship of a foreign country.

The next hearing on the petitions will take place on January 24.
