2 killed, 2 injured in Panchthar fire

MIKLAJUNG: Two persons died and two other sustained inquiries when a fire broke out at Phidim Municipality-5 in Ghumaunetar of Panchthar on Wednesday.

Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) at the District Police Office Hari Khatiwada said that the fire engulfed the house of Megh Bahadur Gurung at around 1.30 am today.

Gurung’s daughter-in-law Asang Singh Thebe (23) and daughter Mamata Gurung, (22) died in the incident, DSP Khatiwada added.

Megh Bahadur and Bijendra Gurung sustained minor injuries.

The fire had completely destroyed the house.

Police said property worth around Rs 5 million was destroyed in the fire.

According to the preliminary investigation, the short circuit might have caused the fire.

As many as 25 police personnel were mobilized to take the fire under control. The fire was doused after three hours.

Police said that they are looking into the case. RSS
