Mahanta Das held for withdrawing Rs 7 million by forging signature

JANAKPURDHAM: Police have arrested Mahanta Jagannath Das “Baishnav” of Laxminarayan Temple in Matihani Municipality, Mahottari on Sunday.

A joint team of Rupandehi and Mahottari nabbed Das from the temple this morning.

SP Krishna Pangeni of Mahottari said that Das was apprehended for withdrawing money from a bank by forging the signature of deputy chief district officer of Rupandehi.

He was accused of withdrawing Rs 7 million by forging the signature.

SP Pangeni said Das has been sent to Rupandehi for investigation.
