Woman nabbed for hurling shoe at lawyers on Supreme Court premises

KATHMANDU: Police have arrested a woman for hurling a shoe at the lawyers of Nepal Bar Association.

Activist Tara Baral, a supporter of Chief Justice Rana, hurled the shoe at the law practitioners who were staging a sit-in on the premises of the Supreme Court to bar Chief Justice Cholendra Shumsher JB Rana from entering his office.

Baral was apprehended from outside the Supreme Court.

According to the decision of the Nepal Bar Association, lawyers staged a sit-in on the premises of the apex court this afternoon after Chief Justice Rana made preparations to return to the office.

Baral had come to the sit-in area at around 3 pm today and protested against the lawyers. In the meantime, she hurled a shoe at the lawyers.

Police personnel deployed at the Supreme Court detained her immediately.
