3 killed, 12 injured in Pyuthan jeep accident

RUPANDEHI: Three persons died and 12 others were injured when a jeep met with an accident in Pyuthan on Tuesday.

According to the District Police Office, Pyuthan, the deceased have been identified as Khuman Thapa (46), his wife Bachhi Thapa (46) and Mahima Gharti (52) of Patalkateri, Pyuthan Municipality-5. Police said that they died on the spot.

Spokesperson Sushil Thapa Magar said that the four-wheeler (Lu 1 Ja 3707) was heading towards Purnagaun from Bijuwar when the incident occurred last night.

Phaguni Khatri (50), Gori Gharti (50), Biri Kumari Mahara (19), Dilaram Gharti Chhetri (52), Nima Khatri (34), Juthi Mahara (30), Kumari Mahara (18), Nakhi Mahara (41), Gori Khatri (41), Nimlal Gharti (37), Jagma Mahara (34) and Rame Roka (58) of Pyuthan Municipality-5 were injured in the incident.

Amon the injured six are said to be in critical condition. They have been referred to Butwal for treatment while others are undergoing treatment at the Bijuwar Hospital.

Jeep driver Binod KM (23) of Pyuthan Municipality-9 sustained minor injuries in the incident.
