SC stays EC’s decision to scrap candidacy of Dr Toshima Karki

KATHMANDU: The Supreme Court (SC) on Tuesday issued an interim order against the Election Commission’s decision to scrap the candidacy of the Rastriya Swatantra Party candidate from Lalitpur Constituency-3 Dr Toshima Karki.

A single bench of Justice Kumar Chudal today issued the interim order to the Election Commission not to implement its decision to cancel the candidacy of Karki.

Karki had filed the writ petition at the apex court after the poll body canceled her candidacy stating that her position as a member of the medical council was a position of benefit and not eligible to contest the polls.

Karki is an elected member of the Nepal Medical Council (NMC).
